School Officials, Board Members, and Educators at NY School Board Association Convention See Efficiency of Clean-Diesel School Buses

November 8th, 2013 Rochester, N.Y. – Experts from Leonard Bus Sales recently attended the New York State School Boards Association’s 94th Annual Convention and Education Expo to share the message of clean-diesel with nearly 2,500 school board members, superintendents, and educators in attendance from across the state.

During the three-day-long gathering, held Oct. 24-26 at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center, the team from Leonard Bus Sales demonstrated how clean-diesel is the most cost-effective way to green-up a fleet of school buses, and how Leonard Bus Sales “one stop shop” approach can keep future costs down.

“We know schools are facing fiscal challenges across the state, as they work to keep their fleets effective, efficient, and safe,” said Leonard Bus Sales Director of Sales Frank Continetti.  “We want everyone to know the most cost-effective way to achieve environmental efficiency is with new, clean diesel buses. And, that we can help keep fleet costs down by providing a one-stop shop for parts, repairs, service and training.”

While other technologies, including propane, rely heavily on tax credits for savings, convention attendees learned how the advantages of clean-diesel help achieve efficiency without requiring costly improvements to existing school transportation infrastructure.  They also learned that today’s clean diesel buses operate with near zero emissions and have almost 90-percent less hydrocarbon emissions than buses of a decade ago.

Attendees were extremely pleased to hear that Leonard Bus Sales offers the most clean-diesel school bus engine options available on the market.  In addition to the MaxxForce engine, Navistar recently announced that the IC Bus™ CE Series is now available with the Cummins ISB 6.7-liter engine, giving customers even more choices in clean-diesel engine technology.

According to the US Clean Air Taskforce, transportation dollars go further when fleets are updated with more affordable clean-diesel buses. And school districts are able to retire more old buses with clean-diesel than they would if they used more expensive alternatives, like compressed natural gas.

Continetti concluded, “Simply put, working with Leonard Bus Sales is the best way to make your fleet more efficient, now and long into the future.”
