May 22, 2024 — Leonard Bus Sales is proud to announce that Julia Juron, who graduates from Liberty High School in the Spring, is this year’s winner of the Leonard Family Scholarship and will continue her studies by pursuing a degree in K-12 music education beginning in the Fall. Julia is the Daughter of New York School Bus Contractors Association Member Mandy Juron of Rolling V Transportation in South Fallsburg.
Julia is a member of the National Honor Society with a 4.0 GPA, Choir president, Liberty Performing Arts member, and a Practice Buddy for Nesin Cultural Arts – an organization that serves the community by providing comprehensive lifelong learning opportunities through integrated arts-based partnerships. The organization also provides programming that enhance artistic creativity, provides educational experiences, and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Julia loved music ever since she could talk and fully embraced opportunities to sing in church and at school. As she grew older, she enjoyed working with kids – especially at the elementary level. Julia credits her teachers and directors for fostering and developing her love for music throughout her academic career and for inspiring her to play the same role for future generations.
“Julia’s commitment to music is an expression of her passion and desire to bring beauty to the world at a time when too many focus on the negative, “said Leonard Bus Sales President Jon Leonard. “It is also a recognition of the lasting impact our educators have on building a stronger and brighter future for our communities. Julia’s crediting of her teachers and directors, coupled with her desire to impart the same love for music upon the succeeding generation, is why the Leonard Family Scholarship was created. Just as our family has made a multi-generational commitment to these students, we feel it is important to encourage them to do the same. The Leonard Family Scholarship helps our winners realize these dreams.”
The Leonard Family Scholarship is open to the children of New York School Bus Contractors Association member company employees and is awarded annually. A one-time $2,500 scholarship is paid directly to the winner’s educational institution.
The scholarship is awarded to students who will be attending a two or four-year college, or trade school with particular consideration given to those students pursuing a career in diesel or automotive mechanics. Financial need is also considered along with criteria that includes meritorious academic performance.
