Apply Now: Leonard Family Scholarship Applications Due Soon

February 15, 2017, Deposit, N.Y. – Leonard Bus Sales CEO, Mike Leonard, is reminding their school transportation partners to make sure they get their Leonard Family Scholarship applications submitted.  Applications for NYAPT are due by April 1, 2017 and for NYSBCA by March 1, 2017.  The NYAPT award will be made in June and the NYSBCA award will be made at NYSBCA’s annual safety competition.

The scholarship was created to promote student success after high school with preference given to students pursuing careers in diesel mechanics, automotive mechanics, and those with financial need.

“We established the Leonard Family Scholarship to assist students enrolling in a technical or college education program,” said Leonard Bus Sales CEO, Mike Leonard.  “We are very proud of this scholarship and hope we are able to help students reach their goals and achieve the success they deserve.”

The Leonard Family Scholarship is open to children of New York Association for Pupil Transportation members and New York School Bus Contractors Association members.  A one-time scholarship is paid directly to the educational institution for each winner.  Two scholarships are awarded annually – one each for children of members of the two associations.

NYAPT and NYSBCA will send completed applications to The Community Foundation for South Central New York, which is the entity charged with administering the Leonard Family Scholarship.  Applications can be obtained by contacting NYAPT or NYSBCA.

“We want to thank the New York for Association for Pupil Transportation and the New York School Bus Contractors Association for partnering with us to make the annual Leonard Family Scholarship a reality,” said Jon Leonard, Vice President of Leonard Bus Sales.  “This means a great deal to Leonard Bus Sales, the entire Leonard family and most of all the students.”

“My parents, Gerald and Helen Leonard, founded Leonard Bus Sales over 50 years ago on the principles of honesty and fairness,” said Mike Leonard.  “Leonard Bus Sales has stayed true to these principles as we have grown and expanded over the years, but our number one priority has always been the safety of the children that ride our school buses.”

Leonard Bus Sales is donating $10 to the scholarship fund for each new school bus sold as a way to show its appreciation for the continued support of its school transportation partners.
