September 19, 2014, Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – Leonard Bus Sales recently delivered a variety of new, clean diesel and gas school buses to Galway Central Schools, allowing the district to update its fleet and improve efficiency at the same time. The district received four new 72 passenger Cummins-power clean diesel IC Bus brand CE series buses, and two new 20 passenger Trans Tech ST Aeros that run on gasoline. In addition, the district took ownership of three buses it had been leasing.
“Having the right array of buses in our fleet will help us do our job more efficiently,” said Galway CSD Transportation Supervisor Mike Sherman. “These new buses will not only run cleaner than the ones we’re replacing, but will allow us to use the appropriate size vehicle for each job. This is just the start of Galway working with Leonard Bus Sales to keep our fleet up to date and as efficient as possible, and that’s all thanks to the voters of the district.”
Earlier this year, school district voters approved a fleet upgrade, which allowed the district to retire three buses that were a decade old and replace these with new, clean diesel buses with higher capacity. The new 20 passenger Trans Tech buses also replaced Chevy Suburbans with less seating capacity. Now, the district has the right vehicles for its current needs, with reduced emissions and improved efficiency.
