Leonard Bus Sales Co-Sponsors Western New York Head Mechanics Tech “Road-eo” Competition

May 19, 2014, Bergen, N.Y. – Always looking for a chance to engage in a bit of friendly competition while improving their school bus maintenance skills, technicians from across Western New York gathered recently at the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda Union Free School District bus garage for the 2014 Western New York Head Mechanics Association Tech “Road-eo.”

This year’s event, organized by the local Head Mechanics Association and co-sponsored by Leonard Bus Sales, saw the technicians test their skills on various staged problems and challenges on several different model buses. The competition also included a written multiple choice test and a parts identification round. After the skills competition, the technicians receive more training and discuss the latest techniques with certified trainer, Leonard Bus Sales Service Training Director Marv Wood.

“This is a great chance for school bus technicians to gather, share techniques, learn a bit from each other, and have some fun doing it,” said Leonard Bus Sales Transportation Advisor David Rindo. “Leonard Bus Sales was honored to help sponsor this event, and to be represented during the training portion by our very own Marv Wood.”

The winners of the 2014 competition were Mike Lagoda of West Seneca CSD in first place, and Adam Schafer of Pembroke CSD as the runner-up. The top three finishers not only receive cash prizes, but also win sponsorship to the state competition held in July at the NYAPT summer conference.
